Njuriga Washing Station - Anaerobic Natural Lot 🇰🇪
Njuriga Washing station, in Nyeri County, Kenya, is a cooperative washing station which started operation back in 1999 and is now run by Pauline Mumbi Karim. Currently they have 470 members and function by consolidating all farmes fresh harvest and creating a wide range of processed lots. This is very unique regarding Kenya’s strong tradition around washed coffee only.
As for anything small batch, Pauline and her team takes an effort in making these exceptional coffees.
The lot we bought from them is of the SL28 and SL34 varieties and is processed by first fermenting the coffee in cherry form and drying it in a thicker layer increasing temperature and slow drying down, giving a exceptional increase to the fruity and acidic characters.
The coffee is nice and sweet, with notes of rose water, melon and red currant. Thank you Pauline and team for this exceptional coffee lot.
