our second harvest from Hertson Bernal!🇨🇴
Hertson and his brother Jesus bought farm together in the 2000’s in Huila. They dreamt big attempting to restore the abandoned farm La Esperanza. Every year a passion for specialty coffee grew in them together and so did their farm. The mill got fixed, facilities improved and now their coffees was tasting better than ever!
The coffee lot we bought from them is the Cenicafe 1 varietal. A new varietal 20 year in the making with the goal to improve harvest security at the same quality level as caturra and castillo varieties.
The brothers and their harvest team picked the ripe cherries and fermented them in barrels afterwards pulped and fermented again for a few days, afterwards the seeds were washed and dried on raised beds.
The result is a sweet coffee with notes of marcipan, raspberries and black tea.
